What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation surgery is a surgical procedure performed to increase breast size and add volume using implants made of silicone gel — biocompatible and extensively safety-tested. Additionally, fat transfer can be considered for patients who want a more modest size increase using their own tissue.

While breast augmentation enhances the aesthetic appearance, it can also be used to correct congenital asymmetries or reshape breasts that have lost volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss.

Implant Options

Dr. Efendioğlu uses only CE-certified and internationally approved implants from premium manufacturers. Implant selection is made together with the patient during consultation:

The Procedure

Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 1–2 hours. The implant pocket is created either above or below the pectoral muscle, and the implant is inserted through the chosen incision site. Drains are not routinely required. Patients can typically return to light activity within 5–7 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do breast implants last?
Modern implants are designed to last a lifetime in the majority of cases. The general recommendation is to have imaging review every 10–15 years. Replacement is only necessary if there is a problem such as rupture or capsular contracture.
Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation?
Yes, in most cases. Submuscular implant placement does not typically affect the mammary glands or milk ducts.
When can I return to exercise?
Light walking is encouraged from the first post-operative day. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for 6 weeks.
What is capsular contracture?
Capsular contracture occurs when the scar tissue (capsule) that naturally forms around an implant tightens, causing firmness or distortion. The risk is low with modern smooth or micro-textured implants and proper surgical technique.
