What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation surgery is a surgical procedure performed to increase breast size and add volume using implants made of silicone gel — biocompatible and extensively safety-tested. Additionally, fat transfer can be considered for patients who want a more modest size increase using their own tissue.
While breast augmentation enhances the aesthetic appearance, it can also be used to correct congenital asymmetries or reshape breasts that have lost volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss.
Who is a Candidate?
- Individuals with naturally small breast volume due to genetic factors
- Those experiencing volume loss after pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Patients with significant breast asymmetry
- Women who have lost breast tissue after trauma or mastectomy
- Those who wish to achieve a fuller, more proportionate décolletage
Implant Options
Dr. Efendioğlu uses only CE-certified and internationally approved implants from premium manufacturers. Implant selection is made together with the patient during consultation:
- Shape: Round or anatomical (teardrop)
- Surface: Smooth or micro-textured
- Profile: Low, moderate or high projection
- Placement: Subglandular (above muscle) or submuscular (below muscle)
- Incision: Inframammary fold (most common), periareolar or axillary
The Procedure
Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and typically takes 1–2 hours. The implant pocket is created either above or below the pectoral muscle, and the implant is inserted through the chosen incision site. Drains are not routinely required. Patients can typically return to light activity within 5–7 days.
