About Liposuction
Liposuction uses a thin, hollow tube (cannula) to break up and suction out fat cells from targeted areas of the body. Once fat cells are removed, they do not regenerate — making the results permanent, provided the patient maintains a stable weight post-operatively.
Dr. Efendioğlu performs tumescent liposuction and VASER (ultrasound-assisted) liposuction depending on the treatment area and desired outcome. VASER liposuction uses ultrasonic energy to selectively emulsify fat before removal, resulting in smoother results, better skin retraction and reduced recovery time. It is particularly suited to high-definition body sculpting.
Treatable Areas
- Abdomen and flanks (love handles)
- Inner and outer thighs
- Arms and axillary region
- Back and bra rolls
- Chin and neck (submental fat / double chin)
- Knees and inner calves
- Male chest (in combination with gynecomastia surgery)
Liposuction vs Abdominoplasty
Liposuction removes fat but does not address excess skin or weakened abdominal muscles. Patients with good skin elasticity and localised fat deposits are excellent candidates for liposuction alone. Those with significant skin laxity, stretch marks or diastasis recti typically require abdominoplasty — often combined with liposuction — for optimal results.
Recovery
A compression garment is worn for 4–6 weeks to reduce swelling and support skin retraction. Most patients return to desk work within 5–7 days. Final results are visible at 3–6 months as post-operative swelling resolves.
